Lake Whitney

October 13-15, 2006

Directions

From Keene:

Take US 67 to Cleburne.

Turn left on S. Main, TX 174 South.

Turn left on FM 933 to Blum & Whitney.

Continue through Blum on FM 933 to Whitney.

Turn right on FM 22.

Turn right to Lofers Bend Park.

Turn left to West Lofers Bend.

From Fort Worth:

Take I-35W south to Hillsboro.

MapQuest map link from Hillsboro to Park - Click.

Take the TX-579-SPUR/US-77 N exit # 370 to Hillsboro - go 0.2 miles.

Bear Right at TX-579-SPUR W - go 0.2 miles.

Bear Right at TX-579-SPUR - go 0.8 miles.

Take the TX-81 S ramp - go 2.2 miles.

Turn Right at W ELM ST - go 0.3 miles.

Continue on TX-22 highway to the town of Whitney.

Stay on TX-22 till you are almost to the dam at Lake Whitney.  Turn right at the sign for Lofers Bend Park.  Then turn left at the sign for West Lofers Bend.

7:30 a.m.                                 Flag raising and worship

8:00 a.m.                                 Breakfast - clean up (club time)

                                                Dress uniform required

                                                Inspection by Coordinators

9:30 a.m.                                 Spiritual lessons (see class requirements)

11:00 a.m.               God Time (church)

12:00 p.m.               Lunch and clean up (club time)

1:30 p.m.                                 Nature appreciation

                                                Explorers - Weather honor

                                                Rangers - Insects/wild flowers

                                                Voyagers - Edible plants honor

                                                Guide - Ecology

4:30 p.m.                                 Honors (taught by Master Guides)

Weather, seeds, animal tracking, trees, insects, wild flowers, edible plants, ecology, fungi

6:00 p.m.                                 Supper and clean up (club time)

7:30 p.m.                                 Flag lowering and worship

8:15 p.m.                                 Camping skills activities (see Camping skills requirement schedule)

10:30 p.m.               Quiet time
